This cloth is hand-woven by the Mossi people from central Burkina Faso, West Africa, who have been cultivating cotton for over 1000 years. They are m ade as part of a co-operative that supports the preservation of traditional textiles throughout West Africa, and remain c ulturally significant to this day. In rural villages, elderly women hand spin the cotton, after which the men weave it on horizontal narrow-warp looms creating thin long strips. These stripes are sewn together selvedge to selvedge to create unique, patterned cotton cloths. Perfect at the end of a bed, hung on the wall or drape
