An antique Nupe stool from Nigeria, circa 1950's. This beautifully crafted Nupe Stool is made by the Nupe people of Nigeria. The Nupe people are highly regarded for their abstract stools, characterised by multiple legs and fine geometric carvings on top. Carved from a single block of wood, this stool features a rare looped design in its legs and is square in shape with an intricate detailed pattern on the top with lettering 'LAPAI'. This stools shows signs of use, imperfections are part of its age and character. Nupe Stool 001 measures 41cm and 30cm tall.
