A story of Guatemala is told in the Trama Chair . Trama , in Spanish, refers to the weft in the weave. The weaving—done by hand on generation-old looms—sits at the heart of the chair, both physically and symbolically. The textile visually mirrors the loom itself, while its colours and patterns become a language that speaks to the traditional clothing of Todos Santos Cuchumatan. The form of the chair is grounded in the country’s past and present: the narrow back references the iconic J. Leonardo Gaitán colonial chair, hand-carved in Guatemala in the 1940s, while the low height draws inspiration
