These organic baskets are handwoven by a collective of Xhosa women in the eastern cape of South Africa. Made from river reed native to the area, these sturdy long-necked baskets hold sculptural like qualities, their free form shape makes each basket unique. The Xhosa women who weave this collection of beautiful baskets work as part of a community project - providing them with employment and continuing to empower the skill of basket weaving in their local township. Measures approx 70cm high x 55cm at widest point. (Give or take a few centimetres as each one is unique).
